Location
Syracuse, NY
Date
September 2024 - Present
Project type
Social Media
In this role, I worked under the direction of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s Communications Director to develop and implement a compelling social media strategy for the office’s Instagram account. My primary goal was to create content that promoted events, celebrated diversity, and highlighted the voices of underrepresented students, faculty, and staff at Syracuse University.
I created and maintained monthly content calendars, ensuring that all posts aligned with campus-wide initiatives, key cultural observances, and ongoing programming. I designed branded graphics using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite. I produced short-form video content—filming and editing promotional reels, interviews, and recap videos to boost awareness and attendance for campus events. I also conducted outreach to student organizations, helping coordinate collaboration opportunities and sourcing content directly from the campus community.
In addition to content creation, I provided organizational and administrative support to the Communications Director. I helped organize internal files and media assets, tracked content deadlines, managed social media scheduling, and maintained an archive of event photos and videos. I also assisted with note-taking during meetings, prepped materials for presentations, and supported email communications with campus partners and contributors.
Through this position, I contributed to a noticeable increase in Instagram engagement. I helped streamline the office’s communications workflow, allowing for more consistent and impactful digital outreach across the university community.
